Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den betting is not legal. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and 60 tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that contains numerous luxuries on top of the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight tables.
